PERSON CENTRED LEARNING & OUR WAKING DAY CURRICULUM
We aim to provide opportunities through our Waking Day Curriculum and special education programme which enable our young people to access their strengths and develop strategies to manage challenge. We offer pathways to enable young people to access the curriculum at a level appropriate to their needs at the time. Whilst focusing on LINCS (Literacy, Independence, Numeracy, Communication and Social Skills) each pupil is given access to a range of National Curriculum subject areas as well as opportunities to develop countryside, land-based and vocational skills. All young people are given the opportunity to gain nationally recognised awards of accreditation including AQA Units of Accreditation, ASDAN, Entry Level, and where appropriate GCSE. The use of EQUALS and B Squared provide us with the opportunity to track progress and celebrate individual successes. In developing our Waking Day Curriculum, we have exciting plans to expand our sports
facilities, Environmental Education and outdoor activities. For our older young people we offer a Working Curriculum that includes access to the local community and where appropriate, on and off-site work placements.
