Who we are

Victoria Potter qualified as a secondary teacher 14 years ago and has worked in Special Education for 12 years. As a teacher of children with Severe Learning Difficulties, including those on the Autistic Spectrum, Victoria demonstrated excellent standards and became a mentor to colleagues. In 2005 Victoria became a Senior Teacher and part of the Leadership team that led 3 schools through a merger and new build process. Prior to joining the Beacon Reach Senior Leadership Team, she was an Assistant Head for four years in a 320 place, generic special school with management responsibilities and achievements that have included embedding planning and assessment systems and leading on intervention strategies for underachieving pupils.
Victoria’s vision is to prepare each young person for their own specific destination. She values a holistic approach to learning and education which is inclusive, specific, appropriate and personalised.
Qualifications include NPQH, M Ed in SEN, BA (Hons), NVQ 3 in Communication.

Ian Preston has worked in the care profession for over 14 years with boys and girls of all ages having a range of special needs including SEBD, SLD, MLD, ASD challenging behaviour and complex needs. Bringing a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to Beacon Reach he is responsible for providing the highest levels of care for all the young people.
Accustomed to working with large groups of people, his excellent managerial skills, specialist knowledge and training ensure that the dedicated staff teams deliver the exceptional quality of service that all expect. As acting registered manager Ian develops professional relationships with Parents and Carers, Referring authorities and Inspecting bodies based on transparency and trust.
Qualifications include NVQ level 3 & 4 children and young people, RMA, DSP, EVC, safer recruitment, Team teach advanced instructor. Ian is committed to the safeguarding of all young people and ensuring positive outcomes from all members of Beacon Reach whilst promoting core family values incorporating all aspects of the UK government initiative “Every Child Matters”.

Andrew Young is a retired chartered accountant and has been involved with special education on a management level for the past 10 years, and has been a governor of a mainstream primary school for over 20 years.
